LED High Definition Televisions

Television manufacturers continue to work to create a better and more pleasing viewing experience for consumers. The new craze in film watching and TV gaming opens up the TV electronic world to discover more realistic pictures through color perfection and clarity. Through this venture, many different types of bulbs and lighting sources have been tested and tried. While many have shown great success, the desire for even better continues. The newest discovery being Light Emitting Diode (LEDs) in the LED high definition television.

This drive toward giving viewers a more enjoyable TV watching experience has lead to the latest in trends, the LED television. In basic terms, a LED TV can exist as a LCD TV that uses Light Emitting Diode (LEDs) to clarify the picture screen display or as an LED TV which uses complete LEDs. LEDs more effectively direct light in one direction than fluorescent or incandescent bulbs. In a LCD TV, the LEDS are either placed along the back of the screen or around the edge of the screen. When the LEDs are used along the perimeter of the display screen, the term edge lit is labelled to the product.

The methods of LED technology that manufacturers use for creating LED televisions create two different perspectives for viewers. When the LEDs are placed along the side of the televisions, the screen depth size capabilities are reduced greatly. The screen can be thinner due to the lack of LEDs in the back. An edge lit TV also costs less than a back lit LED TV. However, when the LEDs are used across the back of the televisions, deeper and darker blacks are formed. The LEDs can actually be shut off so no light comes through. In the television world this is referred to as local dimming.

The cost of the clarity and color improvements with a LED HDTV comes with a cost. An upgrade to one of these televisions may cost the buyer up to $4000. Yet, with the upgrade the viewer gains much intensity in action films and gaming. LED TVs are more efficient at creating excellent pictures of fast motions. The LED HDTV manufacturers also claim that television cuts energy consumption by 40%.

The close competition between LCD, plasma, and LED TVs leads to a need for great comparison from the buyer before making a final decision and purchase. While the plasma TV offers a great viewing angle, its reflective screen is often troublesome in light. LCD TVs work well for basic viewing needs but the bulbs do not compare to the newer LED TV creation. The newer LED TVs take the lead when it comes to the picture produced.

When looking at terms associated with a LED screen, the word high definition will likely arise. All LED TVs has full high definition but not to the same degree. The LEDs in a LED screen combine to form little pixels or dots that contribute to the visual output. These red, blue, and green pixels work together to form all other colors including white. On some screens, a group of 9000 LEDs may be located within any one meter. In this case, the LEDs would be close together with a small pitch, space between them. A TV with a small pixel pitch has higher definition than screens with larger pixel pitch.

In addition to the discovery of LED screens in the television world, NCE has broken through with the LED monitor. The LED monitor, like the LED TV screen, promises to offer the best color and clarity. Again these features are not priceless. A LED monitor offers the same features of the LCD flat panel monitor but with more accurate coloring. The high end of the LED monitor price spectrum ranges up to and over $6000. However, one positive aspect about the LED monitor is the absence of Mercury as found in fluorescent backlights.

All reviews and indicators point to LED technology as being the electronic of the future. While high cost and screen size limitations are a factor in the LED world now, manufacturers show promise of working through these issues. In given time, LED electronics could possibly be a normal in the homes of all television watchers. - 32388
